Coaching Ethics Framework

“For the collective good of the Swimming QLD coaching fraternity, all coaches should consider what is best for the swimmer, rather than acquire swimmers for their own gain, be it financial, competitive point score, prestige or ego”.

– Stephan Widmer

Coaching Ethics Framework

asctaQLD cannot restrict free trade and competition amongst coaches nor promoting collusion or monopolistic practices – thus ASCTA has developed the guidelines below for coaches to use when approached by a swimmer from another program.

  • Swimmer/Parent approaches coach to join program
  • Response: “Have you spoken to your current coach”?
  • If yes, contact the coach prior to accepting the coaching opportunity.
  • If no, send the athlete back to discuss situation with their current coach.
